An Empirical Study of the Common Factors Affecting Students’ Academic Performance in Gombe State University, Gombe-Nigeria

Students’ academic performance has been one of the major discourse among social sciences disciplines in tertiary institutions last two decades Nigeria. But unfortunately, very insignificant number studies this area conducted north east institutions. This research was undertaken to fill obvious gap. The objectives study therefore includes; examine most common factors associated with poor students Gombe State University and explore consequences University. Furthermore, employed a descriptive method data collected from sampled 584 respondents using Krejcie Morgan Sample Size Calculator via aid questionnaire. analysed Statistical Package for Social Sciences (Version, 21). findings indicated that, includes family stress, lack proper orientation programmes commitment activities overcrowding class others. Similarly, university include semester results, probation dismissal Finally, recommends others on need parents/guardians support encourage their wards by relieving them during school sessions. Also, management provide more facilities which will help reducing congestions class.
